Participation of ELI-ALPS delegation at HPLSE 2018 in Suzhou

    Representatives of the Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI) participated in the High Power Laser Science and Engineering (HPLSE) Forum on April 9-13, 2018. The event was organized by the Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (SIOM) and is the largest event on laser research to be held in China and the Asian region. 
    A special session on ELI was organized with the aim to present and promote the three research facilities of ELI for the international and Chinese expert audience.

    The Hungarian Science & Technology Attaché in China initiated the session. That came with strong support from the Department of Science Diplomacy of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Zsolt Fül?p, the Hungarian Envoy Extraordinary for ELI, who was also present. Besides him, Managing Director Lóránt Lehrner and Research Technology Director Károly Osvay of ELI-ALPS participated as well as the representatives of the Czech and Romanian research institutes ELI Beamlines and ELI-NP.

    On behalf of ELI Delivery Consortium a brief presentation was held about the operation of the European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) by Florian Gliksohn, Associate Director.

    The Hungarian delegation met Zhu Jianqiang, Director of National Laboratory on High Power Laser and Physics, SIOM, and Li Ruxin, the Director of Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (SIOM), during which the Chinese side proposed the preparation of an interinstitutional agreement on CAS- SIOM and ELI-ALPS in Szeged. In addition, a meeting was organized by the Hungarian Science & Technology Attaché between the delegation and Prof. Zhang Jie, vice-president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

    The primary goal of the ELI program was to present and promote the three research facilities of ELI for the international and Chinese professional audience.
