SIOM delegation pay a visit to Soreq Nuclear Research Center

Update time: 2013-05-27

From May 5th to 10th, 2013, the research group headed by prof. Jianqiang Zhu from Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (SIOM) paid a visit to Soreq Nuclear Research Center (Soreq NRC) in Israel and held a meeting between SIOM and Soreq NRC. The meeting focused on the interfaces between laser facility and building infrastructure regarding to the cooperative Project “High power laser and technical between China and Israel” (short for NLF). The research group also visited the NLF building site.

Since the kick-off meeting on May in 2011, NLF project has had a big process under both sides’ endeavor. Currently, the detailed design has been finished, and the project is approaching to engineering stage. Meantime, the building which is borne by SOREQ NRC is in processing. It is known that the laser facility is closely related to the building infrastructure. So the purpose of this visit is to on-site confirm the interfaces such as electricity, water and gas requirement, and sign the Interfaces Controlled Document (ICD) finally.

Considering the progress in NLF, Soreq NRC hoped to enlarge the further collaboration with SIOM. SIOM and Soreq NRC made preliminary agreements for the further collaboration during the meeting.

It is proved that China has the capability to undertake the international collaboration with its world-class science techniques and engineering management by progress of NLF through the progress of NLF.
