From March 25th to 28th, 2013, the delegation of Joint Laboratory of High Power Laser Physics of SIOM headed by the laboratory director Prof. Jianqiang Zhu paid a visit to South Korea and held a symposium with the researchers from Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) headed by Dr. Nam Sungmo and Dr. Han Janming. The symposium focused on the 2013 specific collaboration plan of China-Korea collaboration project – Collaboration on Advanced Key Technology for Inertial Fusion Energy.
The project has received great support from the Ministry of Science and Technology of both countries. During this three-year collaboration, both sides will make efforts together on the development of ICF key technology by combining the advantage of the international physical experimental platform of SG-II and the target shooting demand of KAERI. In June, 2012, they carried out a two-week joint physical experiment firstly, which obtained satisfying results with 18 shots. After that, both sides agreed to continue the further collaboration in 2013 to advance the project.
During this symposium, there was a detailed discussion on the experiment scheme, light beam demand, target materials, devices requirement and experimental period, etc. The discussion also covered the solution of the open questions from the last experiment in 2012. A specific working plan of the project in 2013 had been agreed which included a preliminary experiment time on SG-II facility and implement scheme.
