During the period of September 23-26, 2012, the Workshop on Super Intense Laser-Atom Physics (SILAP2012) was successfully held in China. The symposium was organized by Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (SIOM), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Co-Organized by State Key Laboratory of High Field Laser Physics, the Ministry of Science and Technology & Asian Intense Laser Network. The Co-Chairs are Prof. Ruxin Li from Shanghai Institute. of Optics and Fine Mechanics, China and Prof. Qihuang Gong from Peking University, China
SILAP has been continuing a series of successful conferences which held previously in Rochester (1989), Big Sky (1991), Belgium (1993), Volga River (1995), Washington DC (1999), Dallas (2003), Salamanca (2006) and Zion National Park (2009). SILAP 2012 is the first time which is organized in China.
Totally, there are over 110 participants from 12 countries including Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Israel, Japan, Korea, Spain, Russia, UK and USA. Many renowned scientists such as Prof. Joseph Eberly from University of Rochester, USA; Prof. Jonathan Marangos from Imperial College, UK; Prof. Gérard A. Mourou from Ecole Polytechnique, France; Prof. Howard Reiss from the Max Born Institute, Germany; and Academician Zhizhan Xu from Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics attended the workshop. The workshop offers 42 invited papers and 48 contributed papers (18 oral and 30 poster presentations) in 6 topical areas, which brings the total number of the presentations to 90.
SILAP2012 is to provide a forum to review the most important and latest developments of Super Intense Laser-Atom Physics, to exchange the update research achievements and future trends in Super Intense Laser-Atom Physics, to promote Super Intense Laser-Atom Physics applications and to provide the potential collaboration opportunities in the world.
