The Opening Ceremony of “China-Korea High Energy Density Laser Physics Joint Research Center” is Held at SIOM

On April 28, 2012, the Opening Ceremony of “China-Korea High Energy Density Laser Physics Joint Research Center” was held at SIOM. Mr. Lee, Ju Ho, the Minister of Korea Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and Mr. Gang Wan, the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’ Republic of China gave the congratulation addresses respectively at the opening ceremony.

Mr. Ruxin Li, SIOM director, gave brief Introduction on SIOM and the Joint Research Center.After the opening ceremony, the participants visited the State Key Laboratory of High Field Laser Physics and the Joint Laboratory on High Power Laser and Physics.

The China-Korea Optical Technology Research Center (OTRC) was founded in September 1999 between Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, CAS and the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute. In August, 2002, the center was renamed the China-Korea Optical Science & Technology Cooperation Center (OSTCC). In 2010, China-Korea High Energy Density Laser Physics Joint Research Center was approved by both countries. The mission of center is to jointly develop research activities between China and Korea; to exchange researchers to perform the joint research by mutual arrangement; to develop the research technologies in some related fields; to organize the joint seminar or workshop to review and evaluate the results of joint research and to promote the level of collaboration, etc..
