An appointment ceremony for the Visiting Professor was held at Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (SIOM), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on March 2, 2012. Prof. Ruxin Li, director of SIOM, granted Prof. Georges Boulon the certificate as the visiting professor for senior international scientist of CAS. Prof. Georges Boulon comes from Physical Chemistry of Luminescent Materials Lab, University of Lyon.
After the ceremony, Prof. Georges Boulon gave a presentation entitled by "Rare Earth Dopant Distribution in YAG Laser Ceramics and Perspectives." He mainly introduced that the Ce³⁺ -doped YAG ceramics distribution by using Transmission Electron Microscopy, the Yb³⁺ -doped YAG ceramics by TEM, similarity of Rare Earth Dopant Segregation in Oxides Melt Crystal Growth and Optical Ceramic Processing and detection of Rare Earth Dopants in a YAG Optical Ceramic at the Atomic Level by STEM-HAADF. The related researchers in SIOM had hot discussions with Prof. Georges Boulon after his presentation.
