On September 27, 2010, an appointment ceremony for the Honorary Professor was held at Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (SIOM), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).  Prof. Ferenc Krausz from Max Planck Institute for Quantum Optics, Germany was appointed at the institute. Prof. Ruxin Li, director of the host institute presided over the ceremony and awarded Prof. Ferenc Krausz the appointment letter.

　  Prof. Ferenc Krausz is a Hungarian-Austrian physicist, whose research team has generated and measured the first attosecond light pulse and used it for capturing electrons’ motion inside atoms, marking the birth of attosecond science. In 2003 he was appointed director at the Max Planck Institute for Quantum Optics in Garching and in 2004 became chair of experimental physics at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. In 2006 he co-founded the Munich Centre of Advanced Photonics (MAP) and began serving as one of its directors.

　  After the ceremony, Prof. Ferenc Krausz gave the presentation entitled by “Attosecond physics: controlling and tracing electrons and light waves in real time” and had the hot discussions with the researchers at the institute.
