Prof. Govind P. AGRAWAL was awarded with the title "Honorary Professor" during the visit to our institute on May 16, 2005. He received a letter of appointment as an honorary professor from Prof. Zhu Jianqiang, the director of Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, CAS.

  Prof. Govind P. AGRAWAL is the author of seven books, three edited books, several book chapters and review articles, and more than 300 research papers. He won many honors and awards such as Gold Medal of University of Lucknow, Exceptional Contribution Award of AT&T Bell Laboratories, and Distinguished Alumni Award of Indian Institute of Technology etc. The book named Nonlinear Fiber Optics was translated into Chinese and become Chinese students’ teaching material.

  On that day, Prof. Govind P. AGRAWAL gave an academic report entitled Recent Advances in Fiber-Optic Parametric Amplifiers. Over 70 researchers of our institute took part in his report and had a hot academic discussion with Prof. Govind P. AGRAWAL.
