Research Focus
No doubt that optical fiber as one of the greatest inventions underlies the evolution of modern society into the information era. Since the first prototype of modern optical fiber emerged in 1950’s, various optical fibers today have become everyday tools in industries and scientific labs, and meanwhile the researches have grown into an application-oriented subject featured with interdisciplinary complexity. My research interests include (1) novel optical fiber design and fabrication based on microstructure, multiple and functional materials; (2) new physics in novel fiber applications, including but not limited to light delivery under ‘extreme’ conditions, ultrafast fiber laser, high-power fiber amplifier, fiber-based gas optical nonlinearity and novel fiber sensing.
