Dr. Andreas Erdmann from German is awarded as the “CAS Visiting Professor for Senior International Scientists” at SIOM, CAS

  An appointment ceremony for the “CAS Visiting Professorships for Senior International Scientists”(hereinafter referred to as the “Visiting Professorships Program”) was held in Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics(SIOM),Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS) on August 10,2010. Dr. Andreas Erdmann from Fraunhofer IISB Institute, Germany, was appointed as a special visting professor for senior international scientists of CAS. Ruxin Li, director of the host institute, SIOM, awarded Dr. Andreas Erdmann the appointment letter signed by Lu Yongxiang , president of CAS.

  Dr. Andreas Erdmann has served as the group leader of lithography simulation group in the Fraunhofer IISB Institute since 1999. With deep attainments in lithography technology and waveguide optics simulation calculation etc, he has led the development of many advanced lithography simulation soft wares. Dr. Andreas Erdmann has cooperated with SIOM in various forms since 2008. With the support of the Bureau of International Co-operation, CAS, based on the “Visiting Professorships Program”, Dr. Andreas Erdmann and SIOM will conduct a two-month collaborative research at SIOM.

  The aim of the Visiting Professorships Program is to enhance the science & technology innovation capacity of CAS institutes by inviting accomplished researchers from overseas to participate in research in CAS with the hope of strengthening the cooperation and exchange between CAS institutes and international research institutions and universities. It is for international scientists either currently or previously working in well-known universities, research institutes or multi-national corporations, who wish to develop an effective long-term collaborative relationship with the CAS. These scientists should have the same or similar research interests as their CAS collaborators. The Visiting Professorships Programprovides for visits of 2-12 months duration.
